Lemon Broccoli

This is a fun twist on a classic veggie.

We love our veggies! Steamed, roasted or raw. Steamed broccoli is just one of those staple sides in our house, but I was really feeling like shaking things up and giving it a bit of a citrus twist just seemed oh-so-right. It gave the broccoli a delightful freshness that went perfectly with a baked salmon.


  • 2 heads of broccoli, chopped
  • Zest of one small lemon
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice


  • Combine olive oil and lemon juice in small bowl, set aside
  • Combine broccoli, salt, pepper and lemon zest in a sauce panĀ 
  • Fill sauce pan with 1/4 filtered water
  • Cover and steam over low-medium heat for 15 minutes or until tender, stir occasionally
  • Drain and toss with olive oil dressing, add salt/pepper to taste if desired
  • Serve immediately
