Candied Bacon

Bacon and candy, does it get better than this?

I was actually inspired by my favorite person for this recipe, my husband! My husband loves both bacon and candy, so I thought why not see if I can combine the two. Now he can have bacon and candy at the same time. I have to admit I do like bacon, but I'm not in love with it like the rest of my family is, but this candied bacon is pretty good stuff! You can have it for breakfast with some scrambled eggs or even chop it up and put it in a salad for lunch or dinner.


  • 5 slices pork belly, thinly sliced or thick bacon
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • Pinch of sea salt


  • Preheat the oven to 400ºF
  • Bake bacon for 15 minutes on cookie sheet
  • Remove bacon from oven and drain fat
  • Lower oven temperature to 350ºF
  • Place bacon on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper 
  • Pour maple syrup over bacon, using a pastry brush to even distribute syrup over both sides, add salt
  • Bake for another 30 minutes, flip bacon and rotate pan halfway through cooking time
  • Cool until hardened
